I've tried to make it to Cali's for a long time, but finally today I caught them while they were open. If you are a raw foodist, you should already know about this place. If you don't, stop ordering that stuff online and get over to Cali's! They have everything you need for sprouting et al. I'm into juicing lately, so I thought it would be great to find my organic produce at a store other than Whole Foods. Well, looks like I was wrong. I was educated by the staff that because they strive to get produce from local growers, they don't have much to offer in the off-season. Fair enough. The only problem with that, is: I am a local back yard grower! I'm getting my garden going right now. I go to the store for my organic produce when I don't have my own home-grown veggies to eat, so Cali's, in their pursuit of only locally grown produce, is missing out on my dollars. Now I have to stay with Whole Foods. I understand the whole idea behind buying local and eating seasonal foods. I know it's better for the environment. So I'm sticking with four stars. I respect their position, and I like them for it. I'll be back to Cali's during the summer to see what they have to offer. I'm sure there will be items I'd love to buy.

this place rules. That's really all there is to say. I can find lots of unusual foods, seeds and nuts. They even cut me a deal for buying a large quantity and they will even let you know when items are coming if they are out. They also have some local produce in stock and other items too, this is a great place to buy local and support a smaller business. The prices are just as good as whole foods (unless something there is majorly on sale) or lower than whole foods for bulk items. A lot of the stuff is way cheaper than buying it a regular grocery including raisins and the all expensive chia seeds. If you eat raw, vegan or just eat a lot of nuts and seeds, this place is the place to shop in town for your needs. The staff is super helpful, that makes me want to spend more of my money on items even if they aren't as cheap as other places. Way to go, and if you bring in a receipt from vertical diner I think you get 10% of your order! woo hoo!

Like Eve, I saw an ad in City Weekly and had to check out the store. In fact, when I saw the ad, I ran straight to Yelp to see about reviews. Knowing Eve's good taste and seeing her positive review, I knew I had to check out Cali's for myself! I am so glad I did. Blanched almond flour for $4 & change a lb.--score! Hazelnut meal for $6 & change -- double score! I loved the giant bottles of olive oil, the selection of nuts and dates, and the nut butters. Although the selection of nut butters is not huge, it features some hard-to-find-in-bricks-and-mortar-stores items such as Artisana walnut butter. While this place cannot replace my regular grocery haunts, I will definitely add it to my regular rounds!

So I went to Cali's for the first time today. As I was eyeing some delicious looking candy bars (yes, of course I would be), the guy behind me in line said "The guy that makes those works out of the corner of my bakery. They're really good." Pretty sure I gained 10 hipster levels from that conversation.

Love this place! I'm sure I'll be visiting more and more. They've got just about any grain you can think of in bulk, lots of produce and tons of awesome vegan sauces (salad dressings, gravy, pesto & more), soups, faux meats, etc. Many of their products are unique as they are house made by the company themselves, like the delicious faux sausage. They've got loose leaf tea too! If you're a fan of natural/whole/veggie foods, check this place out for sure!

I was so disappointed when I was finally able to check this place out, which is hard to do when they have such crappy hours. Anyways, the place had some interesting and hard to find foods, but was ridiculously overpriced. After all the hype, I walked out empty-handed. Too poor for vegan frozen chicken and organic raw almonds. Definitely not worth going out of your way for.
